Content templates are pre-defined pages with a look and feel defined by your corporate identity. They are separated from the menu structure and the general look of the site. Your system set up includes at least one such template, and possibly several.
The Template Chooser
TAGGON relies on the Template Chooser to control all template related information on your website. The Template Chooser is a browsing feature that allows you to search your ImageDirector categories for any template assets you may wish to use to define a page on your website.
Applying a Template from the Template Chooser To apply a template through the Template Chooser place the cursor where you would like the image to appear on your web page. Click on either the Template Chooser icon located on the TAGGON toolbar or select Templates from the Tools menu. A new window will appear on your screen. The left column displays a search box and the categories you have organized for your template assets in ImageDirector. The right column displays thumbnails for the template assets within the current category. Simply navigate through the categories till you find the thumbnail for the template asset you are interested in applying to the page and click on the thumbnail or the WT icon (web template). The Template Chooser will be closed and the page will be reloaded with the desired template.
You will notice two other icons within the Template Chooser's thumbnail display. If you are a priviledged user the Edit Asset Data icon will be shown that allows you to edit the meta data associated with the template. All users will see the Download icon which allows you to download a PDF preview of the original template.
Modifying a Template
Modifying an existing template is very easy. If you are not already within a page that utilizes this template, open a new page and apply the template to it. Modify the page with the changes you wish to be present in the updated template. Please note that all content including text, images, tables, etc. will be included as part of the updated template so you may wish to remove any content you do not wish within the template. Once you are satisfied with the page you can save that to the template file by selecting Save Template in the File menu.
Creating a New Template Creating a new content template is much the same as editing one. Start with an existing content template. Modify the document by adding or removing content as necessary. When you are satisfied with the document select the Save Template As... command from the File menu. In the Save As Template window that appears on the screen type in a new name to label the template and hit Submit.
